ERGO Insurance SE received approval for cross-border merger

ERGO Insurance SE (“ERGO”) received approval on 29th of June 2026 from the Estonian Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority for a cross-border merger with Akcinė draudimo bendrovė “Gjensidige” (“Gjensidige”). As a result of the merger, Gjensidige’s business operations will be merged into ERGO. Following the merger, business operations will continue under ERGO’s (as an acquiring insurance undertaking) license. In Latvia and Lithuania, business operations will continue through the ERGO Latvia and ERGO Lithuania branches, respectively. The cross-border merger is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

The cross-border merger marks the final stage of ERGO Group’s acquisition of Gjensidige. In the first stage, ERGO International AG acquired Gjensidige, making Gjensidige a sister company of ERGO. In the second stage, ERGO and Gjensidige will be merged. By the end of 2026, the Gjensidige brand will be phased out of the Baltic market, and the company will be integrated into ERGO brand.
