Life at ERGO
Our values
Collegiality, diversity, success and development
Our focus is on the well-being of our employees because it is a medium through which we can provide care and security to our customers. This is why we create a healthy, sustainable and positive working environment, where everyone can develop, grow and contribute.
One of our strengths is our collegiality and team spirit, which allows us to move forward by supporting each other. The awareness of having a common goal unleashes unimaginable power!
We believe that diversity is our strength, which is why we appreciate individuality and diversity of opinion, experience, age, gender, culture, ethnicity and other aspects that people working for our company can contribute to. It is an open and diverse environment that gives birth to the most creative, daring ideas while promoting mutual enrichment.
We grow with every task, challenge and achievement. This is our path to success. We are a strong brand and an important player in the market, who is taking care of safety in a world full of challenges and constant change.
Our fourth core value is development. We provide our employees with opportunities for personal growth and are constantly evolving as a company. We are always striving to be innovative, including development in the digital sector, keeping up with the times and improving remote access to our services.
Grow with us – in an exciting job with lots of opportunities for growth!
We are
Growth-orientated
From your first steps at ERGO, you will feel the support from your colleagues and the company in the development of the skills and knowledge you need. This is based on our belief that learning helps you grow – both individually and jointly as a company.
When you start your work for ERGO, you will be supported by your line manager and team members, but work at the head office also involves the support of a mentor – a specially selected, experienced colleague. Over a period of three months, the mentor helps the new employee to navigate and settle into the working environment, and to become aware of the traditions and culture of the company.
It is just the beginning! ERGO regularly organises a variety of in-house training sessions for its employees that cover issues related to their professional duties, as well as those dealing with inspiration, well-being, physical and mental health.
In accordance with the training budget, staff members are given the opportunity to attend courses, training or conferences of their choice for professional development, as well as English language courses. Anyone can receive education at the training sessions offered by ERGO Group or participate in the ERGO Group Digital Academy, while managers can develop their leadership skills in coaching sessions.
Meanwhile, in order to get better awareness of the specific nature of the work of colleagues from other departments and to improve mutual cooperation, an experience exchange takes place once per year during the Internal Shadow Days of ERGO.
Flexible
This is one of the keywords to describe a modern working environment like the environment of ERGO. Our team appreciates the fact that part of the working time can be spent in the office and part – remotely from home, as well as the opportunities provided by flexible working hours. For instance, when you work at the head office, you can choose which time period from 7.00 to 18.00 you may use to carry out your workload. It helps maintain a work-life balance, making us feel better and work more productively.
To make your home workplace as comfortable and safe as possible, we reimburse you for the purchase of remote workplace equipment, such as a desk or chair.
Furthermore, we offer our employees the pleasant additional benefit of working remotely from another European Union country – a “ workation” for one month a year. It is a job with the flavour of a holiday, allowing you to experience the culture of other countries, visit long-lost friends who are living abroad, or strengthen family ties while maintaining your normal daily routine.
Diverse and inclusive
We truly value diversity, starting from the recruitment process to the management level, where diverse nationalities and genders are represented. While diversity is most often discussed in the context of gender, we believe it should be viewed much more broadly: as diversity of opinion, age, experience, culture, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, neurological and any other aspect of personal identity, mutual respect and acceptance.
Being open and celebrating our differences – this is the type of environment we are creating around us, with a strong emphasis on the education of our employees on different topics. We are delighted that 92% of our employees in the Baltic states believe that ERGO promotes diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion (DEI) in its work environment, as demonstrated by the results of our internal survey.
We want to do everything we can to ensure that a diverse and inclusive environment is an asset not only for ERGO but for society as a whole. ERGO branches in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have therefore signed the Diversity Charter, committing to continue the implementation of diversity principles and to ensure equal opportunities for employees to ensure that everyone feels safe, respected, valued and listened to. We call for a focus on the skills and competencies of a person rather than dwelling on preconceived notions about certain personal identity traits.
In an attempt to reinforce these values, we have created the ERGO DEI Council, which brings together colleagues from all three Baltic states to share ideas and implement initiatives that would make our environment even more inclusive and open.
Family-friendly
We, ERGO, are like a family and at the same time we value the importance of family in the life of every employee. This is why we care about the work-life balance because it is from family and leisure time that we can draw new energy for our work! This is promoted not only by remote and flexible work opportunities that we provide to our employees on a daily basis but by other bonuses as well.
For instance, the childbirth benefit that we grant to young parents. ERGO also supports parents during, before and after parental leave by providing daily advice and keeping in touch with parents to maintain their sense of belonging to the company. If, due to family reasons, an employee can only work part-time, we make it possible by offering part-time work, as long as we are able to do so.
If you plan to be with your child during the working day, the Head Office of ERGO has a crèche, where the children of our employees can spend quality time playing or reading books while their parents are working.
Children of our employees receive gifts from ERGO at Christmas, as do all our first-graders on 1 September, while their parents – both mums and dads – receive a day off on 1 September if their children are starting school in Grade 1. We also organise special events for the children of our employees – educational hikes, camps and other activities.
Happy to be together
Yes, it is important for us to move towards our goals together, but we also know how to celebrate our lives – together! Whether it is the big annual party or a summer get-together outdoors, the Riga Marathon or Santa’s Run with the participation of the ERGO team of employees, Health Month activities at the office or a bonding hike with colleagues from the department – we truly recharge at every get-together.
Socially responsible
We care about the nature of Lithuania; therefore, we volunteer at the “Darom prie jūros” environmental festival, by reinforcing dunes with branches to prevent sand from flowing into the sea, and participate in ERGO Step Challenges, collecting steps and growing virtual trees, which we then transform into real planted trees. The personnel of ERGO, together with #walk15 partners and local communities, have planted more than 90,000 trees in Šiauliai, Klaipėda, Kaunas and Panevėžys. In 2021 the first step oak trees grove was planted in Pavilniai and Verkiai Park.
