Employees

Our employees’ wide range of qualifications, experiences and ways of thinking are of great benefit to ERGO. That's why we want to support and promote this diversity and potential of our employees as an integral part of our corporate culture. Employing people of different ages, genders, nationalities and beliefs can help improve problem-solving and decision-making, and develop creativity and innovative approaches.

The link between the objectives of our employees and the sustainability objectives defined in the “Ambition 2025” programme is ensured through an annual process of objective setting and evaluation. Each individual's objectives are set in line with the objectives of the business unit represented and the company's strategy, one of the pillars of which is "Sustainable Success".

Partners

Procurement principles

ERGO is constantly looking for new and qualified suppliers who value long-term relationships and partnerships.

ERGO is part of a global group and purchases a wide range of goods and services worldwide. Our procurements are based on the best overall value, i.e. in terms of quality, time and cost, and always respect the principles of compliance. In this way, we help to make a significant and sustainable contribution to the success of ERGO.

One of our key procurement criteria is a high sense of responsibility towards the company throughout its value chain. ESG: Environment, Social and Governance principles are crucial to our work. Therefore, we demand that our suppliers also implement sustainable business practices.

Sustainability and transparency in the value chain are as important to us as price or quality for a successful partnership. These principles apply to all business units as well as to our parent companies, ERGO Group AG and Munich Re.

Besides, the first step to becoming a supplier/cooperation partner is to comply with the Supplier Code of Conduct and therefore with the principles of the UN Global Compact movement.

Compliance is ensured by signing a Corporate Responsibility Agreement, which is mandatory for all our partners and suppliers:

United for the future

Us - at the office

At ERGO, we are increasingly paying attention to our daily habits and changing them to care for the environment we all live in. Let's start with small steps to make big things and changes happen in our common home - across Lithuania, the Baltics and the world!

  • We take care of rational resource management on a daily basis, encouraging our employees to use electricity wisely, conserve water and save paper. With the introduction of digital solutions, we are increasingly using electronic signatures in our office work, thus reducing the circulation of paper documents.

  • We give used paper a second life by recycling it regularly. In 2023, we recycled 19 tonnes of paper.

  • We have moved away from plastic cups and containers. To quench our thirst and consume the water we need every day, we are each using our reusable water bottle, glasses or personalised mugs.

  • Every year, we implement challenge activities for our employees, encouraging them to walk more and use more environmentally friendly ways of getting around, which also promote healthy lifestyle.

  • For several years now, ERGO has been moving away from waste baskets in its offices and has introduced centralised bins for waste sorting. Simultaneously we are regularly informing our employees about proper waste sorting and its benefits. We are aware that waste sorting is one of the simplest, but essential things everyone of us can do caring for the environment.

Caring for the environment with our customers

We were one of the first insurers to give our customers the opportunity to move away from plastic health insurance cards and printed policy descriptions by introducing a new solution in 2015 - the ERGO Health Insurance App. In 2023, 99% of ERGO health insurance customers were already using the app, where all the information they need is available digitally.

Social projects

ERGO has a long tradition of providing support to the public. Supporting public interests, ERGO implements both social sponsorship projects, as well as corporate responsibility activities and gives donations.

As a socially responsible company that wants to make a real contribution to solving problems that are important to society, we are supporting projects that are binding on our values and the company's core business. Our priority areas for public support in Lithuania are:

1

promoting public awareness/involvement

2

promoting a healthy lifestyle

3

educating on various security issues

Supported by ERGO:

Step challenges and tree planting

In cooperation with "Walk15" and using the app #walk15, we took as many as 9.2 billion steps in three years. We walked with colleagues, families, clients, and more than 22,000 participants in Lithuania and abroad took part in the step challenges. Step by step, we grew virtual trees that turned into five real groves in different areas of our country. Together with foresters and local communities, we planted 90,000 trees and as many as 1,150 volunteers were involved in the planting, including more than 300 ERGO and family members.

Cooperation with festival "Darom prie juros"

The goal of the festival, organised for 4 year in a row, is to protect the sea from the sand of the dunes, and the dunes from swelling. For this, one of the oldest and most effective ways of preserving the coastline is used - to reinforce the dunes with fences from wicker sticks. ERGO employees and their families are among the festival volunteers. During the festival, concerts and panel discussions take place, films are watched, and eco-laboratory activities and games are organised for children.

Cooperation with “SOS Children's Villages”

We have been friends with the “SOS Children's Villages” organisation for some years. We are happy to create a meaningful connection with the young generation and contribute to the fulfilment of children's daily needs through financial support. We've baked Christmas cookies with the children, went to the theatre, and we also invite ERGO colleagues to contribute with personal support at the "SOS Kindness Shop" and to spend time volunteering.

Knowledge for participants of the Third century Panevėžys University (TAU)

The purpose of TAU's activities is to help elderly people in Panevėžys to adapt to changes in society, encouraging self-expression, activity, active life taking into account their needs and opportunities. Our goal is to educate older people, so ERGO colleagues meet with TAU participants and tell them about the advantages and benefits of insurance for them and their family members.

Social project “Nežvairuok” (“Don't squint”)

Road safety and education of drivers are very important to us, therefore we cooperate with "Delfi" and support the initiative "Nežvairuok", which has been organised for several years. With this initiative, we encourage drivers not to use their mobile phones while driving and to focus all their attention on driving.

We help Alytus community

When a major disaster strikes, community matters. In support of the people of Alytus and its district, we transferred EUR 5,000 as support to the municipality of Alytus. The aid was intended for the clean-up of an emergency situation due to environmental air pollution with dangerous substances.
