Important information related to the security contribution
We would like to share important information with you about an upcoming change in the tax environment related to insurance services.
Starting January 1, 2026, a new security contribution will come into effect for insurance contracts.
In accordance with newly adopted legal requirements, from January 1, 2026, a 10% security contribution will be applied to insurance contracts. This contribution will be calculated based on the insurance premium amount and will apply to newly concluded or renewed non-life insurance contracts.
The purpose of this contribution is to support the financing of the State Defence Fund. The collected funds will be used to strengthen Lithuania’s defence capabilities and ensure national security.
Please note – the security contribution does not apply to the following types of insurance:
- Mandatory civil liability insurance for private vehicle owners (MTPL) used for personal needs;
- Long-term (over 4 months) travel insurance;
- Crop and livestock insurance;
- Life insurance.
