About Gjensidige

Gjensidige is one of the largest insurance groups in the Nordic countries, listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The company began its operations in Norway nearly 200 years ago and has been operating in the Baltic states for almost 20 years. In the Baltic states, Gjensidige offers a full range of non-life insurance products: property, travel, personal, purchase, compulsory motor third-party liability, and comprehensive (CASCO) insurance.

Questions & Answers

In a first step, Gjensidige in the Baltic countries became part of ERGO Group and is now owned by ERGO International AG. In other words – Gjensidige and ERGO in the Baltics became sister companies.

In a second step, ERGO Baltics and Gjensidige Baltics will be gradually merged in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. This process will continue until the end of 2026.

During this period, ERGO and Gjensidige will continue to operate as separate entities, each with its own brand identity. At the end of 2026, the Gjensidige brand will cease to exist in the Baltics, and the company will become part of the ERGO brand.

All existing contracts with Gjensidige clients will continue under ERGO, and there will be no changes to current services or contractual coverage. Customers do not need to take any action on their end and will receive all the necessary information regarding their insurance policies and the transition to ERGO’s responsibility.

After the expiry of the current insurance contracts, former Gjensidige clients will have the opportunity to continue receiving insurance services from ERGO.
