About Gjensidige

Gjensidige is the second largest insurance group in the Nordic and Baltic countries. They have 200 years of experience in Norway and have been operating in Estonia for almost 20 years. In the Baltic States, Gjensidige offers all types of non-life insurance: property, travel, personal, purchase, compulsory motor and CASCO insurance.

Questions & Answers

Following the regulatory approval that we received, the acquisition of shares transaction is expected to close in early 2026.

In a first step, Gjensidige in the Baltic countries will become part of ERGO Group and will be owned by ERGO International AG. In other words – Gjensidige and ERGO in the Baltics will become sister companies.

In a second step, ERGO Baltics and Gjensidige Baltics will be gradually merged in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. This process will start from the moment of closing (early 2026) until the end of 2026.

All existing contracts with Gjensidige clients will continue under ERGO, and there will be no changes to current services or contractual coverage. Customers do not need to take any action on their end and will receive all the necessary information regarding their insurance policies and the transition to ERGO’s responsibility.

After the expiry of the current insurance contracts, former Gjensidige clients will have the opportunity to continue receiving insurance services from ERGO.
