Auto insurance

Compulsory Insurance (Third-Party Liability Insurance) - this insurance is required by law for all vehicle owners. It covers your liability for damage you cause to others in a traffic accident:

• injuries or death of other people;
• damage to other people’s property (e.g., their car, building, fence, etc.). 

It does not cover your own car or your own injuries.

CASCO Insurance (Comprehensive Insurance) - this insurance is voluntary. It covers damage to your own vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. Typical risks covered include:

• traffic accidents;
• theft or attempted theft;
• vandalism;
• natural disasters (storm, hail, fire, flood, etc.).

It often includes extra services such as roadside assistance or a replacement car.

Yes — absolutely. Having both means you’re fully covered:

• If you cause an accident, your compulsory insurance pays for the damage to others.
• Your CASCO then covers the repair or replacement of your own car.

The compulsory motor third-party liability insurance is valid throughout the Republic of Lithuania and abroad, i.e. in the European Union and Switzerland. If you have a green card with compulsory motor third-party liability insurance, the insurance is valid in all the countries on the green card (except for Russia and Belarus).

Casco insurance covers you in Europe (except for Russia and Belarus), unless specified differently in the insurance contract.

The most convenient way to report a claim is through the self-service website mano.ergo.lt. If you do not have the possibility to identify yourself, you can also report a damage on the website online.ergo.lt/en/damages. There you can also submit all documents related to the incident.
