An insured event is a failure of a tour operator to fulfil its obligations for any of the following reasons:
- withdrawal of a tour operator’s certificate;
- insolvency;
- opening of bankruptcy proceedings;
- a failure to provide the service and to reimburse the amount paid for the tourism service contract.
Insurance options
Tour operator – local tourism / inbound tourism
If you are a tour operator and are engaged only in local tourism or inbound tourism, the sum insured must be at least EUR 3,000.
Tour operator – outbound tourism
If you are a tour operator and are engaged in outbound tourism or inbound tourism, the sum insured must be higher of the following:
(a) the amount of the performance security set out in paragraph 1 or 2 of this table;
(b) EUR 200,000 in the case of travel by charter flights;
(c) 7 per cent of the sum of the tour operator’s receipts from the sale of trips under all the contracts concluded for package travel for the last preceding and last four consecutive quarters;
(d) the amount of revenue received by the tour operator in respect of all contracts for package travel that have been concluded and are still outstanding.

If you are a tour operator and are engaged in outbound tourism or inbound tourism, the sum insured must be higher of the following

If you are a tour operator and carry out the activities of an outbound and inbound tourism, an outbound and local tourism, an inbound and local tourism, or an outbound, inbound and local tourism, the amount of the security shall be calculated in accordance with the table set out in paragraph 3.
